E3 2014: Nintendo Digital Event Trailers
June 10, 2014Nintendo’s digital event included announcements and looks at Mario Maker, Bayonetta 2, Mario Party 10 and more.
Along with the trailers for the games that will be coming out this year and into 2015, Nintendo also showed of “amiibo”, interactive figures that will be able to interact with multiple games. The launch of the figures will see about ten amiibo released, followed by more around the holiday season and into 2015.
Show off your creativity with Mario Maker (working title) in 2015. This venture into the world of creation-style gaming will allow the player to edit levels using items from the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES. The trailer shows how you are able to rearrange levels by removing things like the floor, or creating a swarm of flying Koopa Troopas, adding in pipes, blocks and more.
Expected sometime in 2015, Splatoon drops players into a four on four arena where the objective of the game is to get your character, a half-human, half-squid creature to paint more of the arena than your opponents using various painting techniques.
Next, Nintendo gave everyone a look into Legend of Zelda for the Wii U, which sees an open-world concept for the first time in the history of the game. Nintendo Producer Eiji Aonuma says the Zelda team is “…rethinking the conventions of Zelda.” They’ll be putting the graphical capabilities of the Wii U to the test with their new game that will be released in 2015.
Yoshi’s Woolley World will bring adults and kids alike together to play this game which offers rich graphics and gameplay.
Set to be released for the Wii U in 2015, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will remind players of Kirby’s Canvas Curse for the Nintendo DS. This game is a 3D world made entirely of clay.
Hyrule Warriors will be released on September 26th, merging the style of Dynasty Warriors with The Legend of Zelda in a hack-n-slash game for the Wii U. Impa and Midna make their debut of playable characters, or you can choose Link or Princess Zelda.
For Nintendo 3DS users, the Sonic Boom franchise is coming!
Launching exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in early 2015, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the newest installment in the series with new weapon types and the opportunity to join the hunt with friends via Wi-Fi connection.
Bayonetta 2 will be released in October and will immerse players in beautiful graphics as they use their heroine to fight angels and demons.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (working title) is expected in 2015. The puzzle series makes its way to Wii U in HD and takes full advantage of the touch screen on the GamePad controller as players guide the Minis (including Mini Luigi) to safety.
Inspired by the popularity of the Captain Toad levels in Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo will be releasing Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker in time for the holidays this year.
The party belongs to Bowser in Mario Party 10, giving a new game mode where one player takes on the role of Bowser to wreak havoc during the minigames.
Lessons vary from the basics to advanced in Art Academy (working title) due out later this year.
Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U will bring players into a massive sci-fi roleplaying game. A terrible intergalactic war leaves just a handful of Earth survivors trying to live in a beautiful yet hostile environment.
Pokémon Art Academy due out in October has the same basic concept of Art Academy listed above, but this time players will learn how to use various tools in order to draw their favorite Pokémon.
Fantasy Life will be released in October. Players embark on the adventure of their dreams as they craft, cast, battle and role-play. The innovative Life system lets players change to one of 12 Life classes at virtually any time to access different abilities.
Combining hallmark “Final Fantasy” music with role-playing game elements, the new Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call by SquareEnix will come to North America on Sept. 16, 2014, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system.
