Veronica started out as an amateur sleuth as her part-time job after school. She worked with her father in his private investigation firm. She lived in Neptune, California where she helped her father on various investigations, many of which brought her into contact with the popular kids, which she wasn’t a part of in school. She had no friends until she helps a boy named Wallace Fennel who becomes her best friend. Veronica Mars now lives in New York City and she’s put her past in Neptune high school behind her. When her high school reunion comes up, she considers not going but has to help her old boyfriend, Logan Echolls. He’s been accused of murdering his current girlfriend and asks for her help in clearing his name and finding the real murderer.

After years of farming in New Brunswick a married couple, Craig and Irene, are in their eighties and fall on hard times. They are no longer able to provide through their farm and Irene is beginning to show signs of dementia. Even though their children disagree, Craig decides to begin milling lumber out of the trees on his land and building a more modest one story house where he and his wife can live. Rather than planning out his process and going simply off an idea he has in his mind, Craig goes full force into the construction of his house. This causes troubles along the way which Craig must struggle to overcome if he is to finish his home.

Motorcycle stuntman and reformed art thief Crunch Calhoun decides to get back into the art thievery field and pull off one last grand heist after 7 years of imprisonment caused by his brother Nicky ratting him out. When Nicky double crosses his partner who then seeks out Crunch to find Nicky, Crunch patches things up with Nicky and puts the old team back together to steal a priceless historical tome that Uncle Paddy tips them about. The book is supposed to be stolen from a Canadian warehouse and delivered to the buyer in Detroit, but the heist takes a riskier turn when Nicky proposes that Crunch keep the book and sell forgeries to buyers.

A cast of older police officers offer encouragement and problems to the crop of young rookies. The show directly addresses rookie officers struggling with feelings of inadequacy when putting on the blue uniform for the very first time.
