Robot Chicken DC Comics Special II
February 12, 2014DC Comics and Robot Chicken are teaming up once more to bring you a sequel to the hit DC Comics Special that aired in 2012.
Matt Senreich and Seth Green are teaming up again with guest writer Geoff Johns, CCO of DC Entertainment. Now normally I would scoff at the idea of a sequel, but Adult Swim’s track record has been superb. The Star Wars series they produced got better by the episode and therefore we can trust that the next DC Special will be just as good, if not better.
In light of learning that they were going to produce a second DC Comics Special, we are also getting a variety of variant covers in March with a handful of comics. There are 22 comics that will get the Robot Chicken variant cover and they have shown us 8 so far with release dates of all the covers. Last time around they had only offered a variant to Aquaman, so it seems with all the anticipation they couldn’t contain themselves with just one cover. After seeing some of them, I’m certainly glad they didn’t. Here’s a quick look at the covers and release dates. Be sure to reserve the titles as soon as possible as I’m sure these variants aren’t likely to be sitting on a shelf come release day.
March 5: Action Comics #29, Detective Comics #29, Earth 2 #21
March 12: Batgirl #29, Batman #29, Green Lantern Corps #29, Justice League of America #13, Nightwing #29, Superman/Wonder Woman #6
March 19: Batman & Two-Face #29, Batwoman #29, Green Lantern: New Guardians #29, Harley Quinn #4, Justice League #29, Wonder Woman #29
March 26: Aquaman #29, Batman/Superman #9, The Flash #29, Justice League Dark #29, Superman #29, Teen Titans #29
April 2: Forever Evil #7
DC Comics Special II: Villains in Paradise has only been confirmed for a 2014 release date. With the covers coming out in March, it may be possible that a release date is quickly approaching for the special.
