The Revenant is the latest film by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Director of Birdman, Amores Perros). It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. As a big fan of Birdman, i have to say that this film looks stunning. I cannot wait for it.

It looks intense, very well shot, and seemingly pioneered by skilled directing. The cinematographer is Emmanuel Lubezki (who previously shot Birdman, Gravity), and it looks to have adopted a similar long take shot style to Birdman. I liked this style previously and thought it worked very well. Here, it looks to increase the tense atmosphere and make the drama more realistic. After all, this film is based on a novel written about a true event. It looks to be a beautiful film, and it is subversive due to the fact that it is shot using natural light, not anything artificial.

The performances look extremely solid, and you’d hope that this is finally the film where Leo gets his Oscar. He deserves it, and this looks to be as good a role as any for him to get it.
