Agents of SHIELD Get Together in Episode 7

by Laura Cerroneon January 17, 2018
Episode 7 – Together or Not At All   The team is finally (almost) back together, even if it only lasted for about a half hour. A good quarter into the fifth season, and Agents of SHIELD has continued returning to its roots of being a show about spies, reuniting the Bus Kids (what some […]

Agents of SHIELD has Fun and Games

by Laura Cerroneon January 7, 2018
Agent of Shield returned after a week holiday break with Fun and Games, the follow-up to their bottle episode Rewind, which chronicled Fitz reuniting with Hunter to track down the team. The episode, directed by Clark Gregg (Coulson!), was one of the best in the series this far. Pulling together the world building work of the earlier episodes, coupled with the addition of Fitz and his rescue mission with Enoch, it gave the show the direction it needed.

Emotions, Not Plot, Rescues Agents of SHIELD’s Season 4 Finale

by Laura Cerroneon May 17, 2017
Episode 22 – World’s End If Agents of SHIELD ended during the season finale, it would have been a confusing and difficult place to leave the series. However, that’s not the case for World’s End. The season concluded with more questions than answers, and was propelled by its emotional elements rather than the action.   […]

by Laura Cerroneon February 22, 2017
Leave it to a Whedon to deliver one of the most heartstopping moments in Agents of SHIELD history. That is, Jed Whedon, who penned and directed the second winter finale episode ‘Self Control.’   It was a wild ride from the very beginning to end, and the show really made use of their 10 p.m. […]

by Laura Cerroneon February 15, 2017
Episode 14 – The Man Behind the Shield While components to Agents of SHIELD’s 14th episode were good (Philinda backstory, and the crazy twist at the end), as a whole the overacrhing plot ended up being a letdown. Lots of things worked well for the episode, the dialogue, the visual effects and the stunt choreography, […]

BOOM! Exercises Agents of SHIELD’s Best Qualities

by Laura Cerroneon February 8, 2017
Episode 13 – BOOM! BOOM! Was a perfect amalgamation of what Agents of SHIELD does best, combine adjacent MCU storytelling, with its own original characters, with lots of heart and action. While the episode didn’t boast the biggest plot developments, it surely expounded on the tenets of good television. It offered so many levels to […]

Wake Up Serves Emotions for Agents of SHIELD

by Laura Cerroneon January 25, 2017
Episode 11 – Wake Up Wake Up got two things very right, character interaction and the acting. Solid on both fronts, it does mask some of the glaring plot holes that addled the episode. Agents of SHIELD continues its foray into the messy world of LMDs. Despite the questionable gaps in plot, the episode was […]

Agents of SHIELD Segues With The Patriot

by Laura Cerroneon January 18, 2017
Episode 10 – The Patriot   As Agents of SHIELD nears the halfway point of its fourth season, they seemed to finally have grasped the art of the filler episode. While The Patriot was not without fault or plot hole, it managed to bridge the murky territory between one big plot point to the next. […]

by Laura Cerroneon December 8, 2016
Episode 8 – Law of Inferno Dynamics  Heavy in scientific exposition and manipulating storylines, the winter finale of Agents of SHIELD marks the closing of the first main plot line in season four.   With Eli Morrow gaining seemingly god-like powers due to his science experiment with the Darkhold, SHIELD scrambles to put together their big […]
