“Rogue One” The First Stand Alone Star Wars Movie Announced
March 12, 2015The first title has been released for the new stand alone movies set in the Star Wars Universe.
We haven’t received much information about the new stand alone Star Wars movie Rogue One, but we do have some tidbits to share.
The movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). As for initial casting we have Felicity Jones, whom was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in The Theory of Everything. The story was created by John Knoll, and he will executive produce along with Simon Emanuel (The Dark Knight Rises, Fast & Furious 6) and Jason McGatlin (Tintin, War of the Worlds). To produce we will have Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To (Band of Brothers, The Pacific) and John Swartz (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will co-produce.
This is a large list of big names, and a great track record. The movie is expected to begin filming in London in summer of 2016.
More to come as information surfaces.
