OWN IT! this week includes The Book Thief and Out of the Furnace as well as a couple other movies that could make their home on your shelf come Tuesday, March 11th.

The Book Thief

Genre: Drama
Starring: Roger Allam, Sophie Nelisse, Heike Makatsch

Based on a popular international best selling boiok by the same name, The Book Thief is about a 9 year old girl, Liesel, living in the horrors of World War II Germany, who is sent to live with a foster family. She brings with her a stolen book, “The Gravediggers Handbook,” and through her spirited efforts, begins collecting other books she finds along the way. As she learns to read through the help of her new parents and a secret guest, she begins sharing the books. Meanwhile, her adoptive parents initiate a Jewish refuge beneath the stairs of their home. The young Liesel enjoys her stealing of books as she builds a magical world amidst the horrors of the war in Germany.

Homefront

Genre: Action/Thriller
Starring: Jason Statham, James Franco, Izabela Vidovic

After the death of his wife, former DEA agent Phil Broker and his daughter Maddy move to a small town for some peace and quiet. They quickly attract the anger of vicious local meth dealer Gator when Penny beats up Gator’s bullying nephew. Seeing that outsider Phil is more than capable of taking care of one- on-one assaults, Gator becomes determined to wipe out the city law man once and for all. He waits until Maddy’s birthday to launch an all-out attack on Broker’s house. Phil must race to save Maddy before it’s too late and take down the deranged Gator before harms anyone else.

Inside Llewyn Davis

Genre: Drama
Starring: Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake

Follow Llewyn Davis for a week during his life during the time period of 1961. He is a Greenwich Village NYC resident who does folk music. During the time he is trying to break through he faces many obstacles and issues. Some of these obstacles are seemingly hopeless and while some are from his environment and other uncontrollable sources, many of them are his own making. He struggles to find himself and survive with very little money and friendships ending in rapid numbers. Jean and Jim, 2 other struggling musicians, form a very complex bond with Llewyn to make for some hysterical adventures.

Also being released this week

Out of the Furnace – This dramatic thriller offers a star studded cast, including Woody Harrelson, Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana and Willem Dafoe, to name a few.

Enemies Closer – Action thriller about a ex-Navy SEAL starring, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tom Everett-Scott and Orlando Jones.

The Broken Circle Breakdown – A Belgian drama film that was nominated for best foreign language film at last weekend’s Academy Awards.
