Coming Soon! Alien: Isolation

Alien: Isolation is an upcoming survival/horror/stealth game developed by The Creative Assembly and published bySega. It is the newest game in the Alien series and represents a big change for the franchise. In recent releases such as Aliens: Colonial Marines and the earlier Alien vs Predator, the gameplay focused on fast paced, gun wielding action. Alien: Isolation is completely different wherein the gameplay will focus on stealth and puzzle solving.

The game is set 15 years following the events of the first Alien movie and follows main character Amanda Ripley. Amanda is sent to the space station Sevastopol to find the flight recorder from the star-freighter USCSS Nostromo and to investigate the disappearance of her mother, Ellen Ripley. Once she’s there, she finds a very large, very aggressive xenomorph has already set up residence in the station.

Alien: Isolation’s gameplay focuses on stealth rather than the usual shoot ’em up action. Instead of an endless supply of aliens to mow down with your trusty M41A Pulse Rifle, you are alone, unarmed, against a single alien who can’t be killed, forcing you to beef up your stealth tactics to avoid and survive. The Alien hunts by sight, sound and smell so you’ll need to be extra quiet and find some good hiding spots if you want to make it out alive. Inside lockers, under tables, wherever you can to escape.

With no heads-up-display to assist, the player will rely on tools and gadgets to safely navigate the space station. The player is given a flashlight and the series trademark motion tracker to help detect the Alien’s movements. While the tracker will help tell you when the Alien is near, It will not precisely pin point its location, and if the creature stops moving the tracker will not help. While the flashlight and tracker are a great aid for navigating the station, the noise from the tracker and light from the flashlight can attract the Alien, so these will be used sparingly.

The choice to make a survival horror game as opposed to an action game pays homage to Ridley Scott’s original Alien and gives you that sense of dread and impending danger. Your heart will be racing, your hands will be sweaty. Run, hide and don’t get caught in this terrifying survival game that will surely make you jump. Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation.

Alien: Isolation is set to be released October 7th, 2014 for all major platforms and PC
