The Geeky Weekly: August 16 – August 23
August 23, 2015 0 By EVA
The date today does not lie; it is in fact the home stretch of summer. But fortunate for fans like us that means fall television kicks back up with some of our favorite series and introduces us to new ones. There is time to wash out cosplays that have been sweated, stained, and stomped on and prep up for the next time we get to don our favorite looks. Referring to summer as the end to all things fun clearly doesn’t know how to live it up good in the fall, in my own opinion. There is plenty to look forward to when the days grow shorter and the layers of clothes start piling on.
Let the geeky commence!
∴ James O’Barr, creator of cult classic The Crow says a reboot will definitely happen. Rumors swirled prior that money problems were putting the boot on it, but O’Barr spoke at a panel at Twin Tiers Comic Con in New York about those concerns. O’Barr stated ‘it’s a live property,’ and will be placed in a new studio soon.
∴ He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie has a new writer aboard the project. Christopher Yost, who has written Thor: The Dark World and writing Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel is attached the film. Yost also helped boost Marvel’s animated presence by supporting Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Hopefully this will give the He-Man movie the talent to make it a hit.
∴ It’s been a rocky road for the plans of Marvel’s spin-off from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. First announced in the spring as an offshoot story about Mockingbird and Lance Hunter, hopes were dashed shortly thereafter. ABC has flipped over again and says a pilot episode has been ordered. The spinoff will be titled Marvel’s Most Wanted and will be produced by the show runners of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
∴ Move over Twitch, GeForce is coming to make video game streaming easy. Owned by Nvidia, GeForce aims to make streaming a video of the gameplay and also having a video playing showing the user play on screen simpler. Both ways are popular, and GeForce which was announced at Gamescom has come out in beta. Take a look at its simplicity:
∴ She amazed the world with her Star Trek cosplay space selfie, but Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is going to wow us again. Cristoforetti will be joining the cast of a fan made Star Trek film. The crowd-funded film Star Trek: Axanar will also feature fellow astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison.
∴ All signs are pointing to George Miller to direct the Man of Steel sequel. Miller, who directed Mad Max: Fury Road may be in the directors seat for Man of Steel 2 according to The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? director Jon Schnepp.
∴ Supernatural star Misha Collins was reportedly mugged in Minneapolis. Collins, who plays popular angel Castiel on The CW’s long-running show, tweeted out that he was fine, only receiving minor scrapes and bruises. Former cast mate Jim Beaver had tweeted, then deleted, tweets about Collins’ mugging. Sounds scary, feel better Misha!
