The Legacy of Barbie with Robin Gerber

The Legacy of Barbie with Robin Gerber

September 19, 2019 0 By EVA

Robin Gerber has quite the resume- she’s a lauded historian and author, who has spoken on dozens of occasions to some of the biggest companies and organizations in the world. She’s well-known for her knowledge on Eleanor Roosevelt, having penned the best-seller “Leadership the Eleanor Roosevelt Way: Timeless Strategies from the First Lady of Courage.”

Normally this doesn’t seem like something we would cover on the GCE Podcast, but hang tight, because while we love Eleanor Roosevelt, Robin Gerber is quite the expert on another icon: Barbie.

To love Barbie is to be a geek and we’ll put up one hell of a fight on this hill if we have to. The doll has been a staple for millions of children across several decades. She’s embodied changing times, difficult topics and explored the imagination. It sounds a lot like all the other nerdy things I love.

Robin’s latest book, “Barbie Forever: Her Inspiration, History, and Legacy,” celebrates this heritage and comes out on September 24, right before the International Day of the Girl on October 11. You can learn more about Robin and her myriad projects over at her website: www.robingerber.com

Fun fact: we’re currently working on migrating our podcast onto more platforms, so hang tight while we branch out.
