R.I.P. Gunner Hansen, Leatherface from 1974’s ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’

Actor Gunner Hansen, best known for playing the cannibal and killer Leatherface in the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has died at the age of 68.

According to his agent, Hansen died Saturday at his home of 40 years in Maine after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Born in Reykjavik, Iceland he moved to the U.S. at the age of 5 where he found his first role as the chainsaw wielding, nightmare inducing killer Leatherface.

As far as iconic members of the horror genre, Leatherface will always have a spot next to others such as Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers.

R.I.P. Gunner, you left us far too soon.
