Baldur’s Gate 3 dropping early

It’s true – and it’s magnificent. Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios is releasing on August 3rd on PC, almost a month earlier than its anticipated release date of August 31st. The PS5 launch has been pushed back to September 6th, however.

Facing stiff competition from Starfield, scheduled to drop in early September, the decision was made to accelerate the launch on PC, stressing that it’s ready in a blog post dropped on Steam. The game devs are targeting 60 FPS on PS5, but it won’t be ready in early August, and they note “We don’t want to compromise on quality and feel it would be a shame to downscale to 30fps or make other compromises to hit an arbitrary date.”

Needless to say, this is huge news.
