Aquaman Cast in Dawn of Justice
June 14, 2014When you think about Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Avengers-sized shoes it has to fill, one of your first thoughts might be of the cast. Who will take up the mantle, the cowl, the role of a lifetime? Many of the characters have already been cast with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman and introducing Ben Affleck as Batman, but now it’s time for some new superhero appearances on the silver screen: like Aquaman.
While he may not be the most popular character among mainstream comic book enthusiasts, he is an important member of the Justice League nonetheless. We’ve heard dream castings of Garrett Hedlund of Tron: Legacy fame, to Liam McIntyre of Spartacus: Vengeance, to Leonardo DiCaprio but here’s a choice that you might not have considered: Jason Momoa.
That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, it has been announced that Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa, our beloved Khal Drogo, has been cast in the part of Aquaman. A native to Hawaii, this particular casting will take the traditional golden-haired Aquaman and his fellow Atlanteans in a new direction, but maybe that’s just what the underwater race needs to gain some footing in the comic book industry once more.
Momoa is an extremely talented actor, though perhaps the choice has less to do with his role as the Dothraki horse lord and more to do with his time on Baywatch. Or maybe he performed the Haka, a traditional New Zealand dance, for his audition again. Whatever their reason for choosing him, it was probably a good one. What do you think?
