5 Other Bill Murray Movies You Can Also Watch On Groundhog Day!
February 2, 2016We all know how amazing Groundhog Day is as a movie, but make some time for these other Bill Murray classics!
5. Meatballs
This was a favorite of mine as a kid and is still great to watch. The film in a whole set the tone of what I thought summer camp was actually like for a kid, and I will always imagine that is was like that for any kid in the 80’s. I never got the chance to see if it was true or not, considering the closest thing I got to summer camp was a kid was a frozen few nights in a Beavers (Canadian Scouts) sleepover weekend. No one was tossed on a bed and floated into a lake, because if you tried that you would have died from hypothermia or drowned under the frozen ice.
4. Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters should not be left to only be watched in October due to all the ghosts and ghouls in the film. It can also double as a Valentines Day love story! Nothing is more romantic than you looking into the eyes of a loved one and letting them know that they are your Gatekeeper, and you can be their Keymaster.
3. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
This is one of the most iconic roled Murray has every played, and every word that comes out of his mouth is perfect in this film. Accompanied by Wes Anderson’s amazing eye and directing, this is a must watch if you are having a Murrayfest.
2. Stripes
What else do you do when your girlfriend dumps you and you have nothing else to live for? JOIN THE ARMY! Murray and Harold Ramis (Ghostbusters) both star in this film that has to be one of the most recognized Bill Murray films. John Candy also appears in this film as the lovable Ox, which is one of my favorite John Candy performances.
1. Caddyshack
This is one of the best comedies ever created, and still holds strong to this day. It has Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and was directed by Harold Ramis. The film was even co-written by the “funny”brother (as Bill keeps telling everyone) Brian Doyle-Murray. If you have not seen Caddyshack yet… GO NOW AND WATCH IT.
